“If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot.”
― Stephen King
It’s been a long time since I’ve written a lot. There’s this little business of life and kids and husband and jobs all conspiring to keep my hands from being free enough to write down the stories churning in my head. I wrote my first (terrible) novel during NaNoWriMo, but other than that fabulous November where I gave myself permission to ignore some of the other pressing obligations in my life, I haven’t written a single word of fiction.
Then I saw the Story a Day badge on someone’s blog (John Holton’s, to be precise). The idea is to write a short story every day in May. The point is to GET WRITING. Just the kick in the pants I need. So I dusted off this unused blog I had saved and created this playground to entice my muse to come out and play. I don’t know if I’ll be successful in the challenge (the aforementioned kids, husband, and jobs must get at least some of my attention), but it’s worth the effort if it’ll get my creativity going again.
So welcome to my playground! Feel free to grab a swing or take a turn on the slide. Just remember–no throwing sand and no name calling.
